Splinter Cell and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Animated Series Get First Images

Splinter Cell and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Animated Series Get First Images

Ubisoft has had its franchises in other mediums for quite some time and now some of its animated ventures are coming into fruition. Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, which is an anime set in the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon universe, and the Splinter Cell animated series got their first images today as a part of the Netflix Geeked event. An animated series based on the non-Blood Dragon version of Far Cry was also announced to be coming to Netflix, but no images of that have come out yet.

Variety reported on both Far Cry shows. Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix has a six-episode order on Netflix, but no release date has been announced. Adi Shankar, known for his work on the Castlevania anime, is the creator and executive producer while Ubisoft’s Hélène Juguet, Hugo Revon, and Gérard Guillemot will all be producing. French studio Bobbypills will be the production studio, which has some NSFW animation on YouTube. Blood Dragon was a humorous standalone spin-off of 2012’s Far Cry 3 parodied ’80s movies while utilizing Far Cry‘s gameplay mechanics.

Less is known about the standard Far Cry animated series. It’s not clear if this will adapt one of the games, be set in one of their worlds, or take inspiration from the franchise and be set in a completely new area with different characters. Despite this uncertainty, Juguet, Revon, and Guillemot will also be producing as they find a creative team. No release window was given.

The Splinter Cell series, like the Captain Laserhawk, did get its first image, too, showing a bloodied depiction of series protagonist Sam Fisher. Juguet, Revon, and Guillemot will also be producing this series along with Derek Kolstad, who is known for his action films. He wrote the first three John Wick movies, Nobody, and is set to also write the cinematic adaptation of Just Cause, Square Enix’s bombastic open-world video game series. Kolstad also wrote and co-executive produced a couple episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Netflix said it is an adaptation, but it didn’t say if it was an adaptation of a specific entry. Regardless, there will also be eight episodes in the first season, which will air at an unknown date. Sun Creature and Fost are set as the production studios.

There’s also still more Ubisoft and Netflix collaborations on the way. An Assassin’s Creed live-action show set to come out on the streaming platform sometime in the future.
