Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Ghostwire: Tokyo Detail DualSense Features

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

With the help of several studios, Sony revealed details on how some of the biggest upcoming PS5 games will implement the unique functions featured on the new consoles DualSense controller. This includes games like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Insomniac Games, the developers behind the upcoming action game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, described how the controller’s haptics would help enhance gameplay both directly and subtly. Some of the “no-brainers” for giving their world a distinct feel were footsteps, weapon fire, and striking different surfaces.

However, some of the most simple acts are more satisfying thanks to haptics, such as tiny impulses from every single bolt you pick up. They also mention how using the weapon wheel and scanning the map are more enjoyable thanks to a faint click that occurs as you highlight objects.

The upcoming Tango Gameworks action-adventure game Ghostwire: Tokyo seems to be fully utilizing the PS5’s DualSense controller’s capabilities. The developer says that players will be able to attune with their surroundings with haptic feedback with the help of voices coming from the controller’s speakers. This will then allow you to activate your “sixth sense,” which lets you see what normal people can’t.

Other games mentioned taking advantage of the adaptive triggers, controller speaker, and haptic feedback of the DualSense controller are Scarlet Nexus, Subnautica: Below Zero, Life is Strange: True Colors, Returnal, Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits. You’ll be able to check out all the DualSense features Insomniac Games has to offer when Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart releases on June 11 exclusively for the PS5. Tango Gameworks and Bethesda Softworks will launch Ghostwire: Tokyo sometime in 2021 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
